Traditions

  • One day He learned that She had a love for flowers. She grew up gardening with her grandma and taking flower arranging classes in high school and college. One day she told him that She was the Yellow Rose of Texas :) He thought that was perfect since he had been wanting to give her a rose for the longest time! So one day while She was in English class bored out of her mind, he ran to the rose shop and totally surprised her with a beautiful rose with her favorite colored ribbon tied around it. She thought it was the most thoughtful thing ever and made her day a thousand times better! So from that week on, He has surprised Her with a single rose every week... but always at a different time when she was least expecting it... Keeping their  romantic side fun, always :)

Valentine's Day Flowers

She's a Yellow Rose of Texas

The Proposal Flowers :)

  •  Since they started dating, Brent & Crystal made the temple their date night every week. Sure they had other dates throughout the week, but they always knew they would make it to the temple every Thursday or Wednesday night together :) She's excited to be able to go to more areas inside the temple now more often :)
  • Brent served his mission in Brazil so he knows Portuguese, and She grew up for 5 years in Venezuela so She knows spanish. It works out pretty well because they can actually understand each other pretty well. So another tradition they started to do was read the Book of Mormon together every night in PORTUGUESE!!  It's been an adventure, Brazilians sure pronounce everything differently than Spanish people. But Brent is patient with Her and helps Her learn the words one by one. So maybe by the time they go to Brazil next year for the World Cup She'll know how to speak some Portuguese!

He got permission....

So....  He did it! He actually took me by surprise!
It all started as just a normal day. It was a wednesday, which usually means my longest day of working. I normally get off around 7pm, but this day I got off early around 2! I was so excited because I could see Brent during the day before he went to work! So I hurried to his house to surprise him since he was finished with work! I waited in front of his house a good 10 minutes and was worried he was going to be late to work since he hadn't made it home. Just then, he zoomed passed me and parked past his house by the mail box. I was confused... because he had to of definitely seen me! I got out and met him half way to give him a kiss, and he said he was expecting something in the mail and had to change for work real fast! I was glad I could still see him a little bit. Then I went to the grocery store and headed home to have a nice long evening to write a 10+ essay for my english class due the next day! I was also planning a fun dinner with my sister-in-law Kirstie and brother Sterling since I had to eat anyways and take a break. While I waited for Kirstie to get off work, I decided to try on my grandma's wedding dress  also to see if it would work for me to wear for my wedding. Kirstie came over to button me up and it looked stunning! Sterling came over and was just so so excited about the dress, which is odd. I thought it was hilarious! Then Kirstie (who was 8 months pregnant) said she had been craving McDonald's yogurt parfaits all day and Sterling really wanted one too! Sterling told me I should wear the wedding dress to McDonalds! Of course I said no, and put on my random, lazy day outfit... So we all went and Sterling treated us :) They asked me a lot of questions about Brent & I and Sterling was so happy! It was fun!! Brent texted me on his lunch break from work, I always loved it because that was the only time during work he could text. Since he worked till 11.... I told him he should meet us at McDonald's for his break but he just kept asking how Kirstie was and what we were talking about... So then we headed back to my gma's house (where I've been living) to make a yummy dinner all together! I unlocked the front door and noticed a red dot on the door from Kirstie's camera and was so confused why she was trying to take a picture of me?? So just went inside to put my purse on the couch and looked into the kitchen and saw a huge flower arrangement, and I looked at Kirstie so confused!! Right then... Brent popped up from behind all dressed up. You should have seen the look on my face... it was priceless (apparently). I was so in shock!! He was suppose to be at work?? I just kept looking back and forth between Kirstie and him confused, I really thought I was dreaming during a nap on the couch.

Anyways, I snapped back to reality when Brent was like "Come here.... :) " So I slowly walked over to him and he got down on his knee and officially asked me to marry him. I said YES!! without hesitation (since I always told myself I would for sure remember to say it).

I was in shock! My hands were literally over my mouth, I just kept saying.. "Is this real life??? That ring is so sparkly!!"

Then he smiled and said... "So, are you going to take it?" haha, So I picked up the ring and put it on, it was beyond perfect! He picked it all out by himself :)  (notice the wedding dress on the couch lol).

Then we had a true loves kiss! I had never been happier in my life! Brent seems to make me feel that was every day of our lives. Each day is better than the last :)

His sister surprised me and was in the corner taking pictures. Thanks to her we have pictures to always remember it :)

Then Brent surprised me with a picnic from Benja's (our favorite restaurant that we went for our first day also) and then some yummy cupcakes for desert also! It was absolutely perfect, he really shocked me just like he wanted! I really thought he was going to propose the following saturday when he finally had a day off. Turns out, he didn't have work that day and was planning everything while I was busy tryin on a wedding dress and going to McDonalds! (good thing I didn't wear the wedding dress to McDonalds or he would have proposed to me in it lol )

Let's just say... I didn't finish my paper that night because I was so excited and my sparkly ring was in the way! I got too side tracked! It was too funny, I was trying to write it while Brent did the dishes, and he caught me and said, "Babe... Stop staring over your ring and write your paper sweetheart!" haha. To finish the story... I did finish the next day the minute it was due, and got an A after all! #TenderMercies :)

Our Love Story

HIS:
Tex-ington a love story, A dancing cowgirl from Texas and a Tree hugging hippie from Seattle. I first saw her at church shortly after returning from my mission, and was stunned with her beauty. I shortly after learned she was from Texas.... I thought to myself that will never work! As the Sundays passed I continued to check her out every time I saw her wishing we had something in common. I finally with the help of a good friend worked up the courage to talk to her, I asked her why she was here from Texas and found out she was heading to BYU-Idaho soon. (I heard "yeah shaggy haired bearded boy... I'm not interested) After a while of still seeing her at church I stopped her on campus and asked, "aren't you supposed to be in Idaho?" She told me she decided to stay and didn't know why. That solidified my notion of her not being interested. Fast forward a month or so and finals week was upon us. I noticed she was always in the library studying and thought to myself, "That is my shoe-in! We both study a lot." I caught her Facebooking from the second floor of the library as I was about to say hello. A few minutes later I received a friend request from hers truly. We started talking and marked a day to recharge ours brains on a dinner date. We ate my favorite place Benja's (also happens to be hers) We had a lovely dinner and a quaint stroll down main street for cup cakes. After discovering her weekly temple schedule I suggested we attend together. After the first week I knew she was something special. Our first kiss came the following week after our temple session. After that it's been perfect! :)

HERS:
A Texas dancer + a Washington hipster... Who would have ever thought?? It all started the summer he returned home from his mission. He laid his eyes on the new southern bell in the ward, but she told him she was leaving St. George and going to BYUI in the fall, so he tried to forget about her. She on the other hand, had decided to stay for an unknown reason, and always checked him out during Sunday school. She taught and he was her best student, how could it be any better than that? A couple months went by and he noticed she stayed, and thought she lied to him (or was just trying to help me get the hint that she wasn't interested) (not really..). He finally got the guts to ask her out and she was so nervous just to talk to this gorgeous guy! They went on the best first date either of them had ever been on, and he took her to his favorite restaurant (that he didn't know was also hers) and then they went on a nice stroll down Main Street and got some delicious cupcakes for desert. She didn't want it to end, they were really getting to know each other. Luckily for her, there was another date... Then another... And he surprised her with a Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate her first day back at work, which meant the world to her because of his effort to make her day :) he noticed she went to the temple every week alone, so he planned that they could start going together after school. That meant a lot to her that he wanted to do something so special with her. After a couple weeks! She couldn't wait to hold his hand, so lo and behold... After the temple one night, while they were both dressed up nicely, he grabbed her hand as they walked through the cold, and she got more than expected.... A first goodnight kiss! She knew right then that this was the reason she was meant to stay in st George, to find her Mr. Right. They both never thought true love would click so fast, but when you know... You really know.... They continued dating every time they were together. Whether it be a beautiful hike, trying new foods, dancing in the kitchen while cooking, temple nights,  road trips together to meet each others friends and family, or just studying in the library together. (They need good grades to get into dental hygiene and medical school!) Nothing can separate these two (except work). As long as they're together, they feel they can achieve anything and do anything. Nothing can bring these to down. As long as they're together... They are indescribably happy! Others even smile when they see them or hear about them. They are fun loving and can't help but make each other laugh.  So then he decided to kneel down on one knee and ask the question, she was so in shock , she could barely move! But… she did say YES!
